Surfing the web, I found a cool little art show that any child of the 80’s would love! It’s called I am 8-bit. Unfortunately for me it’s over on the left coast. If you’ve ever experienced “Nintendo thumb” from jamming the A & B buttons, I’m sure you’ll get a kick out of these.

Othello
Posted in Music with tags altered lines, hip-hop, jazz, lightheaded, Music, othello, rap on September 16, 2008 by alteredlinesI love me some hip hop with them funky, jazzy beats. Maybe it’s because I got into hip-hop in the G-funk era, maybe I’m just growing up and like a more laid back sound?
Whatever the reason, Othello is on the top of my playlists these days. One of my favorite tunes is “Peripheral Drift” off of “Alive at the Assembly Line”, which of course I couldn’t find a link to! Check out his myspace, he’s got a few tracks that you can download for free:

It’s run by Jeff Hamada, who does all the artwork for my favorite clothing line, 3sixteen. Jeff posts up random daily inspiration in the form of music, art, film, and photos.
I’ll warn you now, don’t check his site unless you got a minute. I check it almost daily and still find myself on there for an hour or two from time to time!
There’s also a community art project going on all the time. They’ve been pretty cool so far, the current one is Draw your own face with your eyes closed! If you’d like to get in on it click here! or go too http://www.booooooom.com/ Here’s some of the submissions:

Sometimes I think that I’m….
Posted in Designs on September 9, 2008 by alteredlinesThe freakin’ Bomb! I mean c’mon, how great am I? I mean, I could go on about how dope I am, but I don’t want too make ya’ll jealous…
Then BOOOOOOOM! It all blows up in my face! I don’t know how many times I’ve gotten all high and mighty on myself, thinking everything I’m doing is awesome! Only to find out I was actually about to trip. Sometimes I’ll get all busy praising myself and I’ll stop paying attention to where I’m going… All of a sudden I’ll get to tripping and be on my butt looking up, like what?, how the hell did I fall? Gotta love that whole pride before the fall thing, right?
Hindsight is 20/20 and after I get over that whole “I’m the greatest thing since sliced bread” I sit on that bench of introspection and I realize… I realize this may all be cliché but we never learn the lessons from them. It’s like we only scratch the surface. The tip of the iceberg doesn’t seem that bad when seen from above the water level. Many of us get stuck just treading water. These are the lessons that I find myself learning over and over again. It’s like you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. But I refuse to get stuck in rut, for the record, I want to get in a groove. I just hope I don’t end up going around in circles.
I just gotta Dig Deeper…
Scribe
Posted in art on September 8, 2008 by alteredlinesI’ve been a fan of Scribe’s work for a minute now. This dude is insanely talented! If you check out his site, make sure you take a look at the “walls” section. I was totally blown away the first time I saw his paintings. http://scribeswalk.com/
